How to play Abyssal Escape: objective, roles, and red mist

The short version

Abyssal Escape is an asymmetrical horror game on Roblox. One side is a team of Survivors and the other is a single Killer. Roblox files it under Survival → 1 vs All, and one server holds up to 8 players.

In the developers' words, Survivors "must coordinate to dispel the encroaching red mist and escape before everything takes a turn for the worse." The Killer's job is to stop them.

Playing as a Survivor

1. Build your Survivor. You don't pick a ready-made Sonic character. You create your own. The Roblox page lists Customization: create and tailor your own Survivor, and the official Discord describes the game as one "where you can create your own Survivor to try to escape the killer's grasp."
2. Equip abilities. Survivors "equip unique abilities to outwit the threat." Which abilities exist and what each one does is not documented officially yet. We'll add an abilities page once we can verify them.
3. Dispel red mist. Red mist spreads across the map. Clearing it reduces the escape timer, so the more mist the team clears, the sooner you can escape.
4. Coordinate. The developers describe the objective as a team effort: Survivors "must coordinate" to clear the mist.
5. Escape. The goal is to escape before things "take a turn for the worse". The official description ties escaping to the escape timer but does not spell out the exit itself, so we don't describe it here until we can confirm it.

Playing as the Killer

• Play as an entity. The Killer plays as one of the game's Sonic.EXE-inspired entities. The Roblox page names 2011x and Furnace "and more". At launch the official channel shows five: X (The Deity), 2017X, Furnace, Fleetway, and No More Innocence. See every launch killer.
• Evolve through phases. Killers "evolve into increasingly lethal phases as the match progresses." The longer Survivors take, the more dangerous the Killer becomes, which is why clearing mist quickly matters.
• Listen for the chase. The game has voice acting and dynamic chase themes for its entities.

Last man standing (LMS) themes

The developers' YouTube channel explains that LMS themes are rewarded to each side depending on how well they do in the match. If the Killer outperforms the Survivor, the Killer gets their own LMS theme. One example the developers published is the "HERO" LMS theme.

It's an alpha: what to expect

The Roblox description opens with a warning: while the game is in alpha, expect bugs, glitches, and more. In practice:

• Abilities, Killer balance, and timers may change between updates without notice.
• The official Discord is the developers' community server and the place to follow fixes and announcements.
• Check the release status page for what "alpha" means for this game right now.

What we have not verified yet

To keep this guide accurate, we do not list the following until we can confirm them in-game or from the developers: exact escape-timer lengths, how much each mist area removes, ability cooldowns, controls, and map names. If you need those today, the developers' Discord is the most direct source.
